I have a 1969 Plymouth GTX ... What does GTX mean? 3
I have owned this car for a long time and no one has been able to give a correct / logical answer to my question ... is there an intelligent life?
Everyone has an idea, but the truth is that GTX is a good name. In the Gran Turismo (Grand Touring) theme, they added an X because it has a sports ring. Also, the letter X in English traditionally has a common element of anonymity (Mr. X, etc.) that fits into the new Plymouth model.
If you look at Plymouth ■■■■ literature, be it advertisements or brochures, there is nothing to suggest that X means experimental, luxury or anything else. Simply put, GTX is a GT to consider (pointing to the GTO).
I ordered the 1969 GTX Convertible in 1968. I asked the seller what GTX meant, he said he didn't know what X meant, but GT is grand touring.
After some research and much discussion, a type of mopper came up, GTX stands for Gentlemans Express. GTX tops the list of sports car companies. It should have other superior options that are not offered on the Road Runner model. The GTX comes standard with the January 440 and can be optional up to the powerful 426 Hem. Internal upgrades, a chrome pack and a vinyl core complete an upgrade not found in the Road Runner model.
The GTX was a men's muscle car, a premium street racer, but it was actually a year ahead of road racers. The first year of the GTX was 1967, the Road Runner was 1968, and both were based on the Belvedere style.
Definition of GTX Gran Turismo Luxury. In the days of sports cars, GTX, R / T, GTO, SS, RS, GT, etc., adding the name to the car model was the right thing to do and was usually followed by the first letter of the word. Model name but not always.
Amazing royal ride. Italian voices for extra big tours.
