How To Put A Key Back On A Laptop

Type keyboard keys on laptop? Good or bad idea

I dropped the N key and it didn't fit, so I thought I'd use super glue to glue. Will it break anything?

Great superglue repair tool. I have saved a lot of money by repairing some of my clients. Given all this spare parts or a few minutes of glue content which is not really worth fixing, everyone decided to go with glue.

Well, it will work for you, it depends on how carefully you handle the lock after that. In fact, it may not take long.

Below the keys, on most laptop keyboards, is a plastic clip mechanism for holding the keys, and a rubber cover that presses on the keyboard's memory. If the clip mechanism is damaged, the latch can be glued with a rubber cap, but only a light adhesive is used to secure it. The extra pressure of the hard wrench will probably cause the rubber cap to bounce only for a certain amount of time.

You can then change the mug, unless you are careful not to glue it to the mug and use the keyboard until the glue is completely dry. After all, everyone knows it will last a long time.

As a temporary measure and with good amount of glue, it is acceptable. If your laptop is out of warranty, my long term solution is to consider buying a used replacement keyboard. There are a lot of parts suppliers these days, and replacing the keyboard on many Macs and models of laptops is not so difficult (in fact, the keyboard is now replaced by the user for HP and Compaq laptops under warranty. There are parts to be done).

If you would like a replacement keyboard, you can email me the Mac and model of your laptop and I will do my best to guide you in changing the keyboard. I can't suggest where to buy the replacement.

Well, it is possible, but you have to be very careful. I have done this many times on client's laptop.

Beneath the broken lock is a small rubber cone. Place the lock on the table first and use the super glue to glue the small end of the rubber cone to the bottom of the lock (make sure it is right in the middle of the lock, to keep it working properly when dry.) Wait for about 1 hour.

Apply a small amount of glue around the large end of the rubber cone (which is now the place where the latch is attached) and press DOE and LD for 12 minutes at the place of your choice.

Don't try if you make a mistake or use too much glue.

Change keyboard keys.
