What's the best neighborhood in New York for someone outside of college and why?

And / or what neighborhood do you live in and why do you like it or hate it?

I want to go to New York after graduation or soon after. I try to do as much research and feedback as possible to create a plan (as in this question). I saved a lot of money, but I still don't know what kind of limit to consider. I don't have a car if that helps. I intend to sell it before moving.

I didn't learn much about the idea of travel, but as one of you answered, we suggested it. I think it can be a difficult choice, depending on how much money you have right now. But the plan is to go to the city, I like the hustle and bustle of the city, and which city is better than New York?

It's totally up to each individual. I grew up on Long Island, but my family is in Brooklyn, Queens, well ... I have a family all over New York. The end result is ... I need more information to help you. Are you moving or just visiting? What will be your career? How much are you willing to spend each month on an apartment or something else when you move in? Do you have a car or do you use public transport? I really couldn't find a place in New York that I didn't like. Each region has its ups and downs, just like anywhere else in the world. I think your question may be too much. Sorry, can't help. :(

If you are going there, you may want to consider going to a cheaper place with a longer trip. For example, I moved to N. Arlington, NJ for a year despite working at LI. Sure, I was a little crazy driving LI at the time, but if you work in the city, the journey won't be long and you can save a lot of money on rent / mortgage.

Well, New York has two parts. One of them is Upstate New York, which is called New York on the map. The other is a small part that looks like an island. That part is New York City. Borough is part of New York City and there are five: Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, Staten Island and the Bronx. Basically, the five square miles of land or counties that make up New York City. Manhattan and Staten Island are islands and the other three are not. New York City is connected in such a way that the neighborhoods are interconnected and can be reached by bridges, highways, tunnels, ferries and all other means. Due to heavy traffic and parking problems at certain times of the day, trains are one of the easiest options for some of these destinations. The main difference is that Manhattan is practically a city where all the landmarks like the Empire State Building are located. Other neighborhoods in the city are more suburban.

For obvious reasons, this is the best area between Manhattan and Brooklyn. Both of these districts offer the largest amount of culture, life and events. Brooklyn would be ideal for someone who has just finished college because of his quality, ability (type) and cool factor. Manhattan is great too, but you need a bank account to live comfortably and safely. Otherwise I just share some e's with others just to pay the bills.

I live in the Bronx. Although most people think it's stupid, it's not that bad. BX has good neighbors. It also has the most parks in 5 areas. I neither love nor hate it. it is what it is.

Manhattan I've been there for 3 years and now I'm in New Jersey, I'm there every day. Everything is accessible and easily accessible. Manhattan has everything.
No other church compares!
Things I love about living in Brooklyn:
Walking distance to work on the Manhattan Dotto (20 minutes or 45 minutes on the subway if I cross the Brooklyn Bridge)
Lots of restaurants and bars (cheaper than their Manhattan equivalents and generally good)
pecten garden
Brooklyn Academy of Music, many other cultural institutions
Away from the city, Eisen Square Garden and other entertainment venues in Manhattan
I hate how expensive it is (living in a small apartment with no backyard access) and it would be if I left New York, but Brooklyn apartments are much cheaper than Manhattan.
